Practical, no-jargon advice, website builds & audits for your Squarespace site
Get clear guidance, a site that works for you, and the confidence to manage it yourself.
Building your own website can quickly become one of those never-ending projects that just… hangs over you. You open up Squarespace with good intentions, mess about with a template, realise you have no idea what you’re doing, and then quietly close the tab and never open it again.
Am I right?
My approach is human-first: no hustle, no jargon, no pressure. I believe websites should be easy to manage, designed to work for you, and built to connect with the people you most want to serve.

There are so many reasons - but here’s three...
1. Credibility you don’t have to perform for
A website shows you’re real and professional without you having to constantly prove yourself on social media. It’s your calm, grounded home where people can explore your work at their own pace.
2. Clarity that brings the right clients in
Your site explains who you help, what you offer, and how to get started. That means fewer awkward sales calls, less time wasted, and more of the clients who feel like the right fit.
3. Ownership you can rely on
Social platforms come and go, but your website is yours. It’s where people can always find you, join your email list, and move from curious to booked without the algorithm getting in the way.
Now you see why I didn’t feel the need to give you more than three reasons, right?
You’ve probably got plenty of good reasons for putting off building your website.
You’re already running the whole show. Building a site just isn’t your ‘thing’, and that’s fine - it doesn’t have to be. If this bit brings you zero joy, that’s okay.
That’s where I come in. My Squarespace build service is for self-employed humans who want it done properly so they can get back to the work they actually enjoy. I’ll handle the layout, structure, and essentials so your site feels clear, calm, and ready to share.
While I build, I’ll record you tutorials on how it all works. You’ll get simple step by step walkthroughs and short Loom videos so you can update text, swap photos, add pages, and tweak basic SEO. No jargon. No gatekeeping. You won’t be stuck wondering how to make a change again.
Not keen on managing a website? Totally fair. But, at least you’ll know how to if you’re ever in need.
What you’ll need to bring to the table:
Your website copy
Your brand kit (logo, colour palette, fonts, imagery etc), or just an idea of what you’d like.
Access to your Squarespace site
A short description of your ideal client
Any testimonials or reviews you’d like included
Privacy Policy + T&Cs (I can point you to a site for this)
Social media links
Call booking links (if you use them)
Newsletter / mailing list embed code (I’ll help with this if you’re unsure)
This service is for you if…
You’ve been meaning to build a website for ages but keep putting it off.
You've tried to DIY it but got stuck, bored, or overwhelmed somewhere between picking a template and writing your About page.
You’re launching something soon and need somewhere for people to land that isn’t just your Instagram bio.
You want a site that feels like you but don’t know how to reflect that in a website.
You’re not looking for a huge agency build, just something clean, solid, and done-for-you.
You’d rather outsource to someone who won’t speak to you in tech jargon.

What happens in a build?
Here’s a general idea of how the build will go, but each build is different and the flow depends on your availbilility for review.
-
The very first thing we do is make sure we’re on the same page. I’ll need to know your business inside out - including who your ideal client is and what services you offer. So, I’ll ask you to complete a form which helps build this picture really early on to save time in our kick-off call.
-
We have a 45-minute call to:
set up your Squarespace account, template and plan
purchase your domain (if you already have this, we can discuss the transfer / connection)
set up your google workspace / domain email (optional)
hand over your website copy, images, *branding, and links.
allow me access to your email marketing software so I can integrate / embed opt-in forms for your mailing list or newsletter (optional)
discuss the ins and outs of your biz (based on the information gathering form you’ll provide in the info gathering stage)
discuss your availability for the review rounds.
*if you don’t have branding, we can select some Squarespace font packs and colour palettes.
I’ll then begin the build.
-
I’ll get busy building the framework, using your website copy as a guide to create sections ready for your copy, images and links.
Then, l’'ll focus on populating your home page to set the tone for the rest of the site. This will be the first review cycle so I can ensure I’ve captured your vision.
Once you’ve reviewed the home page, I’ll begin on the other pages.
-
This will be time spent building all of your pages, ensuring your copy and images are formatted for mobile, and presented in a way which truly reflects your vibe.
-
I’ll use my own checklist to run a ‘user-test’ - like a mini audit to ensure all links are working, opt-in forms are live, and the overall flow of the site feels good.
I’ll record some tutorials on how to update your site so you can feel confident with ongoing management.
-
We’ll schedule a 30-minute call to walk through your site.
You offer your final feedback.
I make those final changes and let you know when I’m finished.
I’ll share your tutorials, including how to make it go live when you’re ready, how to update your links, add new pages, update your copy etc!
Already got a website, or planning to DIY your own? Sometimes you just need a real human to talk things through with.
Book a one-off 45-minute call with me and bring all your questions — Squarespace setup, page layouts, SEO basics, branding tweaks, techy “how do I do this?” moments — whatever’s keeping you stuck.
This isn’t a big strategy session or a full build — it’s a focused chat to get you unstuck and moving again, with practical advice you can action right away.
You’ll leave with clarity, confidence, and a plan to take the next step (without disappearing down a Google rabbit hole).

Your website is the shop window of your business.
But when you’re the one who built it (or you’ve just been updating it for years), it’s hard to know what’s working and what’s quietly turning people away.
That’s where my Website Audit comes in.
I’ll go through your site page by page, click by click, and give you clear, actionable feedback on how to make it work harder for you.
No tech overwhelm. No jargon. Just a straightforward, prioritised report so you know exactly what to tweak (and why!).
Here’s what you’ll get:
A detailed review of your site’s design, structure, and user experience
Notes on your messaging and offers (are they clear, inviting, and compelling?)
A check on SEO basics (titles, descriptions, image alt text, internal links)
Tips on quick fixes
Visual and copy examples so you can see exactly what I mean
Your audit will arrive as a beautiful, easy-to-read PDF report, so you can work through improvements at your own pace, or hand them back to me to get to work on (I would quote you separately for this work).
Audits start at £175 (custom pricing for complex sites with lots of pages, forms, or integrations.)
Think of this as a health check for your site, so you know what’s strong, what needs attention, and how to make it feel like you (whilst attracting the right people).
Websites Projects
Over the years, I’ve worked on loads of websites for brilliant, values-led businesses. Most of them have been built in Squarespace.
Some I’ve built from scratch. Some I’ve taken and tidied up. Others have been proper team efforts alongside designers, copywriters or brand consultants. Every one has been a bit different, and that’s meant I’ve had the chance to try lots of things and keep building my skills.
These days, I know Squarespace like the back of my hand. I’ve also learnt how to use a bit of code to tweak things and make your site feel more like you. I’m not a web agency, and I won’t talk to you in tech speak; but if you want a calm, capable pair of hands to help you get your site sorted, I’m your gal.
Here are some of the websites I’ve worked on…
PREPARING YOUR COPY // PREPARING YOUR COPY // PREPARING YOUR COPY // PREPARING YOUR COPY // PREPARING YOUR COPY // PREPARING YOUR COPY // PREPARING YOUR COPY //
PREPARING YOUR COPY // PREPARING YOUR COPY // PREPARING YOUR COPY // PREPARING YOUR COPY // PREPARING YOUR COPY // PREPARING YOUR COPY // PREPARING YOUR COPY //
It’s completely normal to find writing about yourself hard. We’re all a bit too close to our work, which is why a fresh pair of eyes can help you spot what a first-time visitor actually needs. If you want recommendations for brilliant copywriters, I can share a few. If you’re writing it yourself, here’s what to prep.
What to prep
Homepage: A warm intro to who you help and the outcome you create. Add one clear next step (view services, book a call, join your list). Keep it short and welcoming.
About page: Your story, values, and how you work. Explain why you do what you do and what someone can expect from working with you. A friendly photo helps.
Services page: What you offer, who it’s for, what’s included, and how much it costs (or a guide price). Add a simple “how it works” and a clear way to enquire or book.
Contact page: A short invite to get in touch, a simple form, and any useful links like booking, email list, or social profiles. Make it easy to reach you.
Other stuff to consider
Testimonials, gallery or case studies to add proof
FAQs to answer common questions and reduce back-and-forth
Resources or blog for searchability and value
Legals and accessibility: privacy policy, cookie notice, readable fonts, alt text
SEO basics: meaningful page titles and meta descriptions
Write how you speak. Keep sentences simple. Imagine chatting with a lovely potential client who has never met you before.
Feeling stuck? I can point you to trusted copywriters, and while I build your site I’ll give light feedback and show you how to make edits so you’re never left wondering how to update a line of text again.
“Heather helped me out with a few projects that I needed assistance with as I didn’t have the space or time to complete the tasks myself, I was blown away by how organized, knowledgeable & communicative Heather is, at each step of the way Heather checked in with me to ensure I was happy and was super flexible when things needs tweaking. It was an absolute dream having Heather support the project, I highly recommend Heather for those who are looking for someone who is super friendly, communicative and has a wide knowledge base.”
